The YAMAHA DX7 may sound quite basic and 'cheap' when compared to some of today's synths, but if you add a little effects processing, the results can sound very up-to-date.

Below are a few examples of what the DX7 sounds like raw, and through a Sony HR-MP5 effects processor.  Hopefully, despite my dodgy playing,  these few samples will demonstrate a little about the sonic capabilities of the DX7 to anyone who doesn't already know.

In each case, the DX7 on its own is heard first, followed by the same sound through the Sony HR-MP5.  The format is MP3.  Each download is about 500k or so.

* This is the sound that probably half the DX7's in the world were bought for!  You'll definitely recognise it when you hear it!

NEW! Also, check out Synthmania's DX7 section - They have a large number of original cartridge sounds demo'd in MP3.
